Success isn’t the key to happiness. Life stores in it the richness of some more gems for us to excavate and enjoy. What’s the use of success when one doesn’t have anyone to celebrate it with? Family, friends, love, health, money, all are the vital ingredients needed to cook up a happy life.
I was reading ‘WHAT YOUNG INDIA WANTS’, the recent book of Chetan Bhagat and I came across these lines which made quite a sense to me. Here, I share them with everyone-
“There is no point in getting a promotion on the day of your breakup. There is no fun in driving a car if your back hurts. Shopping is not enjoyable if your mind is full of tensions.You must have read some quotes- Life is a tough race, it is a marathon or whatever. No, from what I have seen so far, life is one of those races in nursery school where you have to run with a marble in a spoon kept in your mouth. If the marble falls, there is no point coming first. Same with life, where health and relationships are the marbles. Your striving is only worth it if there is harmony in your life. Else, you may achieve the success, but this spark, this feeling of being excited and alive, will start to die. “
In 2010 released the movie ‘The Social Network’ which is the story of Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of facebook and the world’s youngest millionaire. The story however comes up with a theme that- “You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies”, but the climax reveals how a few relations are meant to be mended up for one cannot act as an asshole chasing success throughout his life. Here, I share the video clip of the final scene from the movie which shows Mark sends a friends’ request to his ex-girlfriend, Erica Albright on facebook and refreshes the page several times while waiting for her approval-
Maybe you are at the peak of success; you would find things missing in the end.
I see people frenziedly running after success, on the way they shirk off the precious relationships out of ego, pride or confusion. How unfortunate they have been. So, I take lesson from them to keep my beloved ones, my health and mental peace intact with me all along the way so that my life becomes a wholesome one. I hope you too would… 🙂
