There is a thing which bothers me a lot and it is the fading spirituality among youth and religion turning into a humbug. Show-off and pretence of religion is getting very common these days.
Why I say it’s turning into a humbug?
Growing numbers of pilgrims, so is the crime rate and so is the isolation among people. I have seen how most of the people prefer to sit on a single seat on bus, they are reluctant to share. We are getting disconnected, losing human traits, showing up inhumanity every next day on the newspaper headlines. I don’t understand if everyone is so religious then where has the goodness drained away?
The answer is it has only remained with customs, attire, strictness and rules, the religion thing. How many would care to donate when no one is watching? At heart everyone wants to feel that they are close to God but certainly the spoiled ‘preachers’ of the modern world failed to preach the reality of a religion.
Says the book of Matthew:
Matthew 6:1-6– Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. 5 “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
A religion must be followed and not showed off. It’s not a brand but a path to the almighty. There is no need to build a temple on Ram Janmabhoomi and killing innocents but there is a need to believe in the philosophy of Ram.
Religion improves and builds a person. It allows one to stay truthful and love people around. Communism based on religion is man-made. Religion doesn’t create disparity or it doesn’t divide nations. Rather, it brings people closer and nourishes humanity.
If there’s anything that must be a basis of building a community then it is humanity and love. And there is thus, a single community we belong to i.e. the children of same God.
